Mission Statement

To inspire, elevate, and support a more diverse workforce in the digital identity industry. In doing so, we aspire to support innovation and the growth of our sector by ensuring that Identity solutions are built FOR everyone BY everyone.

About This Cause

Women in Identity (WiD) is a an international not-for-profit membership organization that promotes diversity and inclusion across the identity industry. We drive the digital identity industry to build solutions with diverse teams to promote universal access which enable civic, social and economic empowerment around the world. We achieve our aims through three core priorities: 1. Research – Women in Identity will conduct research projects that are focused on inclusion in identity that support our mission of building products for all, by all. The research will provide practical outcomes for the identity industry but will also provide other opportunities for WiD to be seen as thought leaders in the space. 2. Job Board – The purpose of the Women in Identity job board is twofold: to further the careers of our members by amplifying opportunities in the digital identity industry, and to aid organizations in recruiting a more diverse workforce, which we believe will have an impact on inclusive identity product design. The job board is available to members via the WiD digital platform. 3. Influencing Policy & Regulation - Using output from research projects such as the Code of Conduct, Women in Identity will identify opportunities to provide resources to support influencing digital identity policy and regulation, resulting in a more inclusive Digital Identity industry Our Values: ● Committed to diversity and inclusion: We champion a more diverse workforce, inclusive of all, to enter, and work, and advance in the identity industry. This is to reduce bias and develop identity solutions and systems that work for all. ● Catalysts for change: We provide industry thought leadership, research and education around bias, diversity and inclusion and its importance in the identity industry and orthogonal industries. ● We are solution oriented and force for good: We actively seek solutions to any problems that we encounter ● We are accountable for our actions: We conduct all our work with full responsibility and accountability. ● We are a team: As a volunteer-based organization, we are reliant and dependent on each other to accomplish any task Membership Our members represent all aspects of the identity industry – technical architects, product experts, legal advisors, communications and UX professionals. Hundreds of new members sign up each year, taking membership to over 2000.
