Mission Statement

The Arizona Wildlife Federation is a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization dedicated to educating, inspiring, and assisting individuals and organizations to value, conserve, enhance, manage, and protect wildlife and wildlife habitat. The AWF is an all-volunteer, statewide association of people interested in the present and future well-being of Arizona’s wildlife, wildlife habitat and natural systems. These conservationists believe our wildlife heritage should not be jeopardized by any activity that fails to ensure its long-term health and sustainability.

About This Cause

Protecting Arizona’s wildlife and their habitats is essential to keep our state thriving. We believe Arizona’s wildlife and public lands define our state and provide our families with world class recreation opportunities. Every day, we work on behalf of Arizonans to advocate for science-based wildlife management, access to our state’s incredible public lands, and provide opportunities for Arizonans to learn the skills that help them pursue the outdoor activities the Southwest is known for. In 2019, The National Wildlife Federation honored the Arizona Wildlife Federation for its unparalleled work to protect Arizona’s wildlife heritage and natural resources for future generations. Over the past 100 years we have: - Helped lead the fight to protect the Grand Canyon from uranium mining. - Led the effort to create Arizona Public lands Day celebrating the richness, diversity, and beauty of our public lands. - Garnered bipartisan support for funding that benefits wildlife and public lands. - Helped over 3,000 women gain skills and confidence in the outdoors. - Continued to keep wildlife issues and the needs of sportsmen and women on the radar of our legislators. - Saved thousands of acres of public lands from being taken over by private interest groups. … and more. Since the founding of the organization, one of AWF’s primary goals has been the establishment and maintenance of a Commission form of wildlife administration, free of political influence. We continue to work with the Arizona Game and Fish Department and Commissioners to assure that science-based best practices are used in the management of wildlife and habitat in Arizona. Our objectives include: - Promoting legislation dealing with conservation of our natural resources, the protection of the rights of Arizona outdoorsmen, and the improvement of outdoor recreation. - Vigorous and impartial support of enforcement of all state and federal conservation laws pertaining to the management of fish and wildlife. - Encouraging conservation education in our schools. - Promoting responsible outdoor recreation, including hunting and fishing, through scientific principles and the practice of multiple use of the public lands of Arizona. - Engaging individuals in hands-on conservation efforts that enhance and restore wildlife habitat. With your support, we will continue this legacy for generations to come.
