About This Cause
Last year, 3,681 disadvantaged job-seekers received our services including one-on-one job search assistance, job-readiness resources, resume writing, mock interviewing, access to our computer labs, personalized wardrobe styling, transportation assistance, as well as encouragement and support to pursue a self-sufficient lifestyle In 1988, the Andre House (soup line) created SJW in response to a humble plea from homeless individuals receiving dinner in the park: “We want jobs, but we don’t have the tools.” And since then, SJW has focused solely on empowering men and women to transform their lives through employment. SJW offers clients a hand up, not a handout, building on strengths and helping to reduce or eliminate barriers to employment. St. Joseph the Worker is committed to expanding our impact by forming collaborations with employers, parishes, supportive housing providers and social services, and mobilizing our services with the Mobile Success Unit, to help more individuals than ever bef
