About This Cause

Driven by six core values (Community, Education, History, Integrity, Fiscal Responsibility, and Communication) the Dunbar Pavilion is an arts and cultural center located on the site of a formerly segregated school in Tucson, Arizona. As a hub for the African American community, the Dunbar focuses on three main points of impact: 1. Operating a Museum and Archive to tell the story of African Americans in the Southwest, including Black homesteaders, Buffalo Soldiers, segregation, and honoring the families, workers, students, and professionals that make up our rich history and legacy. 2. Leasing Short- and Long-term Space for community events, arts and cultural activities, weddings/Quinceanera's, Black and BIPOC businesses, and community organizations; providing space for small businesses, start-up and entrepreneurs/ solo-preneurs to collaborate, develop and growth their businesses in support of the African American community and community at large. 3. Developing and executing Health and Wellness Programming and Economic Development Our overarching goal is to Educate, Equip and Empower the community by honoring and preserving our culture while cultivating our future.
