Breaking the Cycle of Poverty... Building a Cycle of Hope Since 1982, Neighborhood Ministries has served Phoenix's poorest, most vulnerable residents caring for their physical, mental and spiritual needs. Neighborhood Ministries provides Outreach, and Empowerment programs to support an individual or family to attain their goals. Our Outreach programs address our clients’ most basic needs including food and clothing assistance, safety, crisis response, and emergency housing support. Additional programs include Substance Abuse Prevent in public schools and with families to assist with former, current, or prevention of substance abuse issues. New parenting classes for first-time parents help support their growth as a parent. Community access point for AHCCCS (health) and SNAP (nutrition) certification and registration. Our Empowerment programs include Early Childhood Development, Early Head Start, Youth Education, Adult Education including GED, trade schools, and college, Family Supportive Services, Spiritual Development, Workforce Development, and Micro-Social Enterprises realizing that families that we serve need holistic wrap-around services to break the cycle of poverty. Each year over 500 children from the community attend after-school programs, computer classes, sports clinics, summer kids club and a sleep-away camp. These programs are provided at a very low cost to the families ($10 per child) or free to those who cannot afford it. These programs a trauma-informed approach, fostering spiritual growth, emotional resilience, and preparing them for their future.
