Mission Statement

Perimeter Bicycling Association of America, Inc is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization who's primary purpose is to promote bicycling as a means to good mental and physical health. Objective is to help raise money for other non-profit charitable agencies and encourage bicycling for mental and physical health.

About This Cause

El Tour de Tucson was founded in 1983 and has become the largest perimeter bicycling event in America, attracting more than 9,000 cyclists, 2,200 volunteers, 22,000 spectators and every form of media. El Tour season begins in September with a 10k & 5k Fun Run and extends through the Sunday before Thanksgiving and includes the following activities; a two day Bicycle Fitness & Health EXPO, Training Rides, Bike Patrol Classes, Platinum Meetings, Dedication Dinner and Grand Cycling Awards Ceremony. Since El Tour’s inception, over 151,755 cyclists have participated and we have raised more than 51 million for local and national organizations. Perimeter's philosophy and slogan is "bicycling in pursuit of wellness". More specifically, Perimeter Bicycling established to produce and direct major "perimeter" cycling events to encourage individuals of all age and ability levels to ride for their own mental and physical health. Perimeter organizes programs to encourage individuals to bicycle perimeters of cities, towns, states, countries, or any defined geographical boundary, not only in America, but throughout the world. We also publish Tail Winds and the Perimeter Journal. Perimeter Bicycling produces 5 major cycling events each year: El Tour de Tucson, Cochise County Cycling Classic, El Tour de Mesa, El Tour de Mt Fuji and Indoor El Tour, which can be done anywhere in the world. Each cycling event is put on to satisfy Perimeter's other major objective: to raise money for other non-profit organizations including, but not limited to: Easter Seals, Special Olympics, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, American Parkinson’s Disease Association, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Tu Nidito Children and Family Services, Diamond Children's Medical Center, Water for People, Rotary Polio Plus Program, etc .... El Tour de Tucson, Perimeter's largest cycling event, raises money for more than 40 nonprofit organizations. This is El Tour’s 33rd year. El Tour attracts more than 9000 cyclists, 2,200 volunteers, 22,000 spectators and every form of media. • Majority of El Tour cyclists are age 40 to 64, 25% female and 75% male. • Household incomes range from $50,000 to $175,000. • 16% in the income range of $50,000 to $75,000. • 19% $75,000 to $99,000. • 18% $100,000 to $124,999. • 18.8% over $175,000. El Tour enables cyclists to: • Accomplish health and Fitness goals • Provides an opportunity to give back to the community • Is family oriented • Fun, safe and well organized Economic impact on Ride Day is 18 – 20 million dollars to the Tucson community.
