Mission Statement

The mission of the Irish Cultural Center is to provide a link between the people of Arizona and the people of Ireland and other Celtic cultures.

About This Cause

The Irish Cultural Center and McClelland Library are located on the West side of Central Avenue, between McDowell and Roosevelt, in Margaret Hance Park in downtown Phoenix, Arizona. The Irish Cultural Center and McClelland Library grew out of a cooperative public and private partnership between the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department; the Arizona Department of Transportation; a Sister City relationship with Ennis, Co. Clare, Ireland; and the Irish Cultural and Learning Foundation, a local non-profit coalition of affiliated Irish and Celtic organizations. The primary goal is to provide the community with the highest quality educational and cultural programming and give those interested in Irish culture a place to learn, create and innovate, providing visitors of all ages access to dynamic Irish arts and history. In this vain, the Irish Cultural Center and McClelland Library hosts programs, classes, exhibits, and special events throughout the year. Funds raised enable us to provide and enhance educational and cultural programming for the Phoenix community through our Academy classes; exhibits; lectures and special events. The history, music, art, dance, literature, drama, crafts, language, genealogical research, travel, sports, and traditions of the Emerald Isle and other Celtic cultures are presented year-round by our non-profit organization.
