About This Cause

The Arizona Pet Project helps families keep their pets healthy and safe. Our primary goal is preventing pet homelessness, and we aim to do this by keeping families with pets together. Formerly known as Friends of Maricopa County Animal Care and Control, we believe our new name better reflects our mission and the people and pets we serve. Oftentimes, pet owners can’t afford to care for their animals and they surrender them at shelters—where they are frequently euthanized. This is a tragedy we want to avoid. Animals bring comfort, joy, healing and health, and we believe those benefits shouldn’t be restricted to a very small percentage of owners who can afford the best care and resources pets deserve. That’s why we provide affordable services, resources and support to Arizona families in need. Our work has helped reduce euthanasia by 81% valley-wide over the last 4 years.
