Mission Statement

Since 2000, NASRN has been committed to saving abandoned & unwanted Anatolian Shepherd Dogs and their mixes. Anatolian Shepherd Dogs are an ancient breed of livestock guardian dogs that originated in Turkey. We are funded 100% by donations and are not sanctioned by any organization, corporation or government agencies. On average, we place about one hundred Anatolians in new homes each year.

About This Cause

NASRN is dedicated to placing unwanted, displaced and abandoned Anatolian Shepherd Dogs and their mixes into safe, caring homes. Anatolian crosses are included in our efforts as we believe crosses not only have many of the unique needs/characteristics of purebred Anatolians, but are often born due to the lack of responsibility on the part of the owners and breeders of purebred Anatolians. Our organization is comprised of Anatolian Shepherd owners, both working and pet homes. We have joined together in an effort to help homeless and displaced Anatolian Shepherd dogs (and their mixes) find a new lease on life. We work directly with shelters in pulling dogs from facilities and placing them in foster care while providing medical care, including spaying and neutering, and, when necessary, rehabilitating dogs before they are placed in new homes. We will offer assistance to Anatolian owners and other Livestock Guardian (LGD) breed owners who are having problems with their dogs, in an effort to keep the dog in its present home. We offer ongoing support to our adopting families to help them with any problems they may experience with their Anatolian.
