Mission Statement

Custer County Search and Rescue, Inc. (CCSAR) is a non-profit 501c(3) organization – an all volunteer team dedicated to providing search, rescue, recovery, emergency response, and outdoor safety education to the citizens of Custer County, Colorado.

About This Cause

Custer County Search and Rescue is comprised of 40 volunteers ranging from administrative specialties, a ground team, ATV team, Technical Rope Rescue team and everything in between. There are seven Board of Directors with a Chairperson, Administrator, Treasurer and Secretary officers. There is a Captain and three Co-Captains. CCSAR is an EMS Agency and under the Medical Direction of Dr. Jeremy DeWall, MD, NRP. CCSAR is dispatched by the Custer County Sheriff’s Office and responds to approximately 25 calls per year, ranging from overdue hikers to lost mushroom hunter to technical rescues. We also respond to aid other counties that request assistance for search & rescue missions. CCSAR does not charge for rescue or other services.
