Mission Statement

GEMS’ mission is to foster resilience, understanding, and empowerment for individuals grappling with mental health challenges and their loved ones. Through a safe and healing environment, GEMS educates families, provides targeted support, offers guidance, furnishes referrals to professional services, addresses Adverse Childhood Experiences, and shares coping mechanisms. GEMS is committed to revolutionizing the approach to mental health support, providing hope, encouragement, education, and resources for those impacted by mental health issues and their loved ones. We strive to cultivate a secure environment where candid discussions about mental health can thrive, ensuring that individuals are acknowledged and respected without prejudice, and that everyone has access to the support they require.

About This Cause

The primary goals of GEMS are as follows: 1. To provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where individuals can freely discuss their mental health issues. 2. To educate families on the complexities of mental health to promote understanding and empathy. 3. To deliver emotional support and practical assistance to those directly dealing with mental health issues. 4. To help families become well-informed about mental health resources and care options. 5. To give guidance on navigating the healthcare system and accessing mental health services. 6. To provide referrals to trustworthy healthcare professionals and service providers. 7. To raise awareness about ACEs and their long-term impact on mental well-being. 8. To teach coping skills for managing stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions. 9. To foster an atmosphere of encouragement, empowerment, and enlightenment within the community. 10. To provide necessary tangible resources for families to function- ie. emergency shelter, transportation, food, employment training, resume writing, budgeting classes, parenting classes and emotional support. The job training initiative also addresses the logistical challenges that individuals may face in getting to and from training sites or job placements. This can include providing transportation assistance, such as subsidized public transit passes or ride-sharing services, to ensure that participants can fully engage with the program. The Ready to Work program can empower individuals to take control of their career trajectories, enhance their employability, and ultimately achieve greater financial stability and personal fulfillment.
