About This Cause

Civic Tech Structure, creates sustainable structures and opportunities that help volunteers to make significant impacts in the areas of: Citizen Engagement, DEI, Environment, Justice, Social Safety Net, Voting & Representation and Workforce Development through Communities of Practice and Open Source: Research, Community Events, and Software Development. We partner with Nonprofits and Government agencies to create more equitable and effective experiences for the communities they serve. We have 3 main initiatives: Hack for LA hackforla.org A volunteer civic tech organization that provides opportunities to build/grow tech and soft skills, and mentor other developers, while giving back to the community on issues such as homelessness, criminal record expungement, and food insecurity. MERL Center merlcenter.org A volunteer community of monitoring, evaluation, research and learning (MERL) professionals creating resources about the intersection of MERL and open source, data science, AI and human-centered design, for people of any technology capacity. Communities of Practice Creating global communities of practice governance structures and tools for managers or civic tech/social good volunteers.
