Mission Statement

Missioned to remove lead and other health contaminates from water at the tap. Community Water Services (CWS) , a nonprofit organization, is missioned to remove lead and other health contaminates from water at the tap. CWS brings lead levels down to undetectable in homes where children and pregnant women live. Represents homeowners to acquire best technology, long term sustainability and favorable pricing. Promotes water sector employment for residents in historically disadvantaged communities. Collaborates with parents, homeowners, landlords, health institutions and stakeholders to offer preventive and abatement services to abate lead poisoning in water. Community Water Services, a non-profit organization, seeks to address these issues: Families who live in homes built prior to 1978 with interior lead plumbing and fixtures have a greater chance of lead poisoning from drinking water. Although the Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act went into effect on January 4, 2014, there is no available funding to eliminate lead in existing interior plumbing and fixtures within the home. EPA set the maximum contaminant level goal for lead in drinking water at zero because lead can be harmful to human heath at low exposure. Lead causes significant health problems, especially in young children with developing brains. The neurological problems caused by lead may also lead to less accessibility to educational and work opportunities. Estimated 35,000 children are at risk of lead poisoning from drinking water in Milwaukee County.
