Mission Statement
Solstice Sanctuary was founded to be a healing center for animals and humans. The sanctuary is a safe place for animals who have experienced trauma or have found themselves without a home. We incorporate the land into the healing. As the land aids the animals in their healing journey, the animals offer support to help heal the humans in return. Essentially, we heal full circle from our trauma together.
About This Cause
The Sanctuary holds space for animals that have experienced trauma, neglect, or difficult situations. The animals go through a rigorous quarantine process once they arrive at the Sanctuary, this begins their journey of healing. We use many modalities to help the animals heal, whether it be physical, emotional or spiritual. As the animals heal we start to evaluate them for our human healing program or if they would be best suited for an individual home. We are lucky enough to watch these animals flourish alongside our amazing team of volunteers. As the animals grow and heal they slowly become integrated into our human healing sessions. Right now we work alongside Heartland Community Farms as a host for one on one healing sessions. Many of our human participants are young adults and children who experience feelings of suicide or depression. As they spend their time at the Sanctuary they learn skills in animal care, while they are being honored for their individual healing needs. We have seen amazing transformations just by giving the children a place to be safe and heard. It's truly special to see how willing the animals are to help them. We also hold educational events with local school districts as well as law enforcement. We believe proper animal welfare can be taught to help prevent abuse and neglect.
