About This Cause

Community Animal Welfare Society (CAWS) is a volunteer nonprofit organization and our purpose is "Working with the Community to Help Animals". We do not receive government funding and rely completely on donations. CAWS volunteers keep the programs running! ** Provide animal welfare outreach, including animal rescue and a spay / neuter / vaccinate program for pets. We do not have a facility, so the donations we receive go directly to the animals in our program. ** Foster and adoption program for dogs and cats, including photos of available cats and dogs on our web site www.caws.org, FaceBook, Instagram and TickTok ** CAWS animals live in volunteer foster homes until they are adopted. We screen all potential adopters and require the pet be returned to CAWS if the adopter is unable to keep the pet. CAWS actively encourages spaying and neutering of all pets by: -Providing spay/neuter surgeries to all CAWS animals. -Providing financial assistance on a limited basis to low income pet owners with participating veterinarians. CAWS participates in a community cat program, called TNR (Trap, Neuter, & Release). The program improves these cat's lives, and also reduces their numbers. -Lending out and using quality humane traps, and assistance with veterinary care, including spay / neuter / vaccinations. -Assistance and advice regarding using traps and providing long-term care for feral cats.
