About This Cause

Vision Community Foundation operates initiatives under 5 pillars. Innovation, Empowerment, Community, Philanthropy and Education. Innovation: iElevate+ TV is a new online on-demand live streaming platform for Black sexual and gender minority content creators and curators. This online network is created and designed to tell Black LGBTQIA+ stories, films, podcasts and documentaries reflecting the global Black sexual and gender minority experience. Empowerment: Launched in 2018, the iElevate conference brings together thousands of Black sexual and gender minority faith leaders, entrepreneurs, community activists and influencers for a 4-day conference focused on empowerment and development. This event centers sessions on HIV/AIDS prevention, education and advocacy with young Black gay men, as well as Black cis-gender and trans women. Community: The Pure Heat Community Festival is a major Atlanta Black Pride event, becoming over the years one of the largest pride festivals in the nation with attendance above 50,000 in 2019. Between vendors, entertainment and a variety of food and beverage choices, this event caters to a diverse audience. In addition to the main event day, PHCF also hosts special events throughout the year under the direction of the Vision Community Foundation and its initiatives. Philanthropy: The Black Tie Gala is an annual event that honors key national and community influencers in the Black sexual and gender minority community while providing an opportunity for donations and support to continue it's programs. Education: VCF has several educational initiatives. The Prevention from the Pulpit Initiative (PFTP) is a program designed to address health inequities within faith-based communities committed to reaching the Black sexual and gender minority community. PFTP provides HIV/AIDS train-the-trainer curriculum, support and training to faith-based communities. The Trans-Vision Leadership initiative offers training and mentorship to members of the minority transgender community in the core areas of academic achievement, entrepreneurship, advocacy, HIV prevention and faith. The Black Women's Health Initiative educates health care providers on the issues and barriers presently leading to adverse health outcomes in Black women, specifically within the minority lesbian community. This initiative also helps minority lesbian women navigate to and identify culturally competent health care providers in their local communities.
