Mission Statement
Not Today Cancer raises funds to support the research and development of treatments for pediatric cancer and to support and facilitate the treatment for children fighting cancer.
About This Cause
Cancer is the #1 cause of death from disease for children in the United States. But less than 8% of federal funding goes to research to cure childhood cancer. Only 5% of oncology drugs had a pediatric recommendation when they were first developed. Cancer drugs are not designed for children. Chemotherapy generally targets rapidly replicating cells - but a child’s entire body is growing, and so chemo can cause long-term effects in children that aren't seen in adults. Almost 80% of children who survive cancer develop chronic health conditions after treatment. Secondary cancers are very common. Not Today Cancer funds grants to support clinical trials and research programs that are advancing treatments for pediatric cancer, with particular interest in treatments aimed at relapsing / recurring pediatric cancers.
