Mission Statement

To fund international projects that focus on family and school education for 21st century kids and parents, where mental health, critical thinking, systematic thinking, social maturity, cross culture competency, etc. are key abilities to develop.

About This Cause

We fund non-profit international organizations that help developing family and school education for meeting 21st century needs. The current international project being funded is an experimental education school in Taiwan named: NGU experimental school (www.nguschool.com). This school uses SEL (social and emotional learning) as the core element and integrate it with in all curriculum designs, including mathematics , natural sciences, literature, and social studies, with the goal of OECD 2030 transformative competencies. Below we use Q&A to provide more understandings. Q: How is this NPO started? A:As early as the 1960's, due to many reasons combined, the mental health issue has been growing quickly to an alarming level. A very clear sign is the many incidents of school shootings that have happened over the last two decades. We believe to really prevent these tragedies, the most fundamental key is to transforming current family and school education. We thus started this NPO to fund institutions that are dedicated to solving this most important and urgent issue in this 21st century. Q: Why family and school education is important? A: Family education is the first step a human being learn to be a human being. A good family education will lead to a mature personality with stable emotion, sound mindset, and abilities to take oneself and love ones around. On the other hand, when a family is not in a good shape to parent their own kids, school education becomes very important role to step in. Q: What is OECD 2030 transformative competencies? A: OECD is a world renowned institution to help world economics, and they find education is the key to the success of economic growths, so they developed the so called OECD 2030 learning compass, as a framework for future education. What they found is, to meet the needs of 21st century needs, a good education should train students with three competencies: ability to think and innovate, ability to transform conflicts to cooperation, and ability to take responsibilities. Jointly, they call these transformative competencies. Q: What is SEL, and why SEL? We are in full agreement with the OECD education goals. However, OECD does not provide answers to achieving the goals. An experimental education institute named NGU comes up with an SEL approach to achieve the OECD goals and we are very impressed by. To our understanding, SEL is not only about skills and knowledge about self emotion management and making friends, or so called EQ, but a competence to keep up positive spirits and resilience in regardless of conflicts, frustrations, and challenges. Therefore, it will not only help students' mental health, but to build up the mental state to work hard and to improve oneself in studying and in their social life. In short, SEL will help students to develop a growth mindset, a peaceful and joyful heart inside, and abilities to love others. Q: What is NGU Experimental Education? NGU Experimental Education (www.nguschool.com) is working hard toward the same goals of ours. We thus select it and provide funds to support its endeavor.
