About This Cause

Salt Lake Community College celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2018 and is the largest two-year college in Utah. Approximately 60,000 students are trained annually at 11 campuses and sites, as well as online. The college is a leading provider of applied technology courses and workforce programs in the Salt Lake Valley. More than 120 programs of study are offered by SLCC and over 4,000 students graduate each year, the majority of which go on to pursue four-year degrees and find vibrant careers. SLCC students can choose from 8 areas of study, including Business, Computer Science and IT; Health Sciences, Arts, Communications and Digital Media; Manufacturing, Construction and Applied Technologies; Science, Engineering, and Math; Social and Behavioral Sciences, Education and Human Services; and Humanities. SLCC has the most diverse student body in Utah. SLCC strives to reflect changing Salt Lake County demographics in enrolled students and in the staff and faculty who serve them. The number of students who identify as Hispanic/Latino/Latina, Pacific Islander, African American, Asian and Native American continues to grow, making the college the most diverse higher ed institution in the state. 53% of SLCC students are the first in their family to attend college. Each year, thousands support a family member or friend who is the first in their ranks to graduate from college. SLCC plays a critical role in making sure everyone in the Salt Lake Valley has access to a better future through education. 81% of SLCC students work while in school. The college accommodates the needs of time-constrained students who balance work, family, and school, offering online, early-morning, evening, and Saturday classes at locations in Taylorsville, West Valley City, Sandy, West Jordan, Salt Lake City, South Salt Lake, and Herriman. More than 45,000 SLCC students take classes for college credit each year. While most students enroll to earn college credit hours, more than 15,000 additional people turn to SLCC each year for non-credit training and education. Salt Lake Community College consistently ranks in the top 10 in the nation as a producer of associate's degrees. Generous financial and advising support, coupled with caring, focused instructors, help students successfully transfer to four-year institutions or complete their degrees, training, and credentials. SLCC also prepares many students to directly enter the workforce. SLCC has 11 campuses to make it easy for students to attend college no matter where they live in the Salt Lake Valley. SLCC's Center for Arts and Media on its South City Campus offers state-of-the-art technology and top instructors in areas such as film, television, music, journalism, photography, animation, radio, and more. The Jordan Campus offers high school and college students multiple opportunities to explore the sciences in areas that include nursing, biotechnology, and dentistry. The Miller Campus features training in law enforcement, culinary arts, and business, with a business incubator (The Mill) and incredible resources for small business owners through the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business program. SLCC's newest campus, the Westpointe Workforce Training & Education Center, is where students prepare for careers in high-demand fields, including welding, machining, diesel technology, composites manufacturing, and commercial truck driving.
