About This Cause
OUR MISSION The mission of the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows is to enhance the quality of life for children, ages 0 to 18, in the Truckee Meadows. We are committed to creating healthy children, in body and mind, with a sense of competence, usefulness, responsibility, belonging and influence through diverse programs and community involvement. Since our founding in 1976, the Club has grown from a single site serving a few dozen youth to 26 sites around northern Nevada serving more than 12,000 youth each year. The Club’s sites include the Donald W. Reynolds Facility on East Ninth Street, the William N. Pennington Facility on Foster Drive as well as sites hosted in 10 schools, four five centers, our Neil Road, Carano and Lemmon Valley Clubhouses and our four Early Learning Program locations. We also have clubhouses and school sites in Winnemucca, Fernley and Ely. Our Club boasts nearly 130 different programs, events and activities to meet the diverse needs and interests of our members. These programs fall under five core areas: Character & Leadership Development; Education & Career Development; Health & Life Skills; the Arts; and Sports, Fitness & Recreation. In an effort to keep our services as affordable as possible, Club membership costs just $20 per year, even though we invest more than $2,500 annually into each of our members.
