Mission Statement
Miracle Flights helps fly children who are struggling with life-threatening cancers and debilitating diseases to specialized medical treatment centers across the U.S. that can best help them. Right now, a child is waiting for a flight that could save his or her life.
About This Cause
Founded in 1985, Miracle Flights is a national, 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization dedicated to helping low income very sick children overcome financial obstacles that prevent them from accessing proper medical care and second opinions. Miracle Flights helps fly children who are struggling with serious cancers and debilitating diseases to specialized medical treatment centers across the U.S. Any child needing medical treatment or seeking out a second opinion not available in their own hometown is eligible to apply for a miracle flight. "Salem is our 6-year-old pride and joy. He was born with Apert Syndrome, a rare craniofacial syndrome that occurs in 1 in 160,000 births. Due to the fusions in the facial bones and skull, Salem has required almost 20 procedures in his life so far, and will require many more. "We are extremely thankful for the miracle of Miracle Flights, because it allows us the opportunity to get our child to the specialists and doctors our son needs." Salem’s mom, Kansas Given the growing costs of health care today and how often illnesses can lead to monetary troubles, the Flights for Kids program serves those families who are unable to manage the recurring financial burden of getting their children to life-saving treatments far from home. That is why miracle flights are so important to all of America’s children. With over 32 years in operation, Miracle Flights has coordinated over 109,529 flights, and flown over 61 million miles to health care. Miracle Flights exists to help families get the care their child so desperately needs, at no cost to them, and as many times as needed on their journey to health.
