Creatives Care's mission is to ensure the future of the arts by providing access to affordable mental health care for artists.
About This Cause
Creatives Care provides access to affordable, high-quality mental health care for artists through the following services: 1. Consultation. Provide artists with free guidance from trained mental health professionals on navigating the mental healthcare landscape and finding appropriate care. 2. Referral. Connect artists with affordable referral options through the organization’s network of independent providers who have committed to providing care at reduced rates. 3. Financial Assistance. Subsidize treatment costs to artists-in-need through the organization’s Treatment Access Fund. What is our impact? Artists across the visual, performing and literary arts are among the demographics that are most vulnerable to suffering from mental health illnesses (3x more likely vs. general public). However, given the predominantly independent / free-lance nature of artists’ work, they are also among the demographics that are least likely to have access to affordable health care, let alone mental health care which is generally under-insured in common employer-based health care plans. Creatives Care has organically built a proprietary network of independent providers who are passionate about the arts and have committed to providing mental health care at reduced and affordable rates to artists as well as dedicated availability for artists. Many of these providers have had extensive experience in the various forms of the arts prior to their careers and can therefore provide more tailored care that is otherwise unavailable to the artists. The artists therefore benefit from cheaper and better care. Whilst the organization’s provider network enables affordable care to many artists, the costs of treatment will still be unattainable for many. Therefore, the organization also subsidizes treatment costs to qualifying artists through its Treatment Access Fund.
