Mission Statement
The Hidden Gem is a non-profit social enterprise & creative studio that provides workspace, creative services and professional training for innovative artists from marginalized communities. Located on the border of Berkeley/Oakland/Emeryville, The Hidden Gem is just a few blocks away from Pixar and is home to a diverse array of entrepreneurs and programs committed to creating socially conscious art, while developing the next generation of artists.
About This Cause
The Hidden Gem Career Pathways Program is dedicated to providing career and educational pathways for independent artists of color who have been marginalized by the mainstream entertainment industry, and not afforded an opportunity to pursue a career in the media industry. Our model works with non-profits and educational institutions to recruit and equip underrepresented artists with the professional skills necessary to compete in the media industry, build businesses and earn income to support local arts economies. Upon completion of our program, we connect artists with paid contracts, seed funding, entry-level job placements, externships and post-secondary academic programs to advance their careers. We also provide professional mentorship, access to high level equipment, free professional training, access to exclusive networking events & exhibitions dedicated to advancing artists in our community.
