Mission Statement

The Radical Monarchs create opportunities for young girls & gender expansive youth of color to form fierce friendships, celebrate their identities and contribute radically to their communities.

About This Cause

The Radical Monarchs Movement engages girls & nonbinary youth of color in transformative organizing through our Radical Badge curriculum. Our innovative program is one of the only social justice incubators for 3rd to 5th grade youth who may otherwise not get first hand experience learning about and participating in actions built on multigenerational collaboration and healing. We also have an active Radical Alumni program, the oldest Alum from our inaugural troop have graduated from high school. Some of the events the alumni have led include organizing a vigil for Black women and femmes to highlight the impact of police/vigilante violence. As well as an event that featured the Black Panther History Museum who focuses on the key role Black women and Femmes played in the Black Panther Party for Self Defense. Radical Monarchs intentionally cultivate a deeply rooted sense of self worth, indigenous healing practices, collaborative skills, and collective power-making; Radical Troops do this by earning 3 Radical Badges per year comprised of the following: Fierce Friendship Pillar; Herstorical Legacy Pillar and Social Justice Innovation Pillar. Our badge curriculum is rooted in the following movement pedagogies: youth development, liberation psychology, pedagogy of hope, and intersectionality. These pedagogies ensure that our programming is aligned with our vision for Black liberation and the collective liberation of youth of color and the marginalized communities we are connected to.
