Mission Statement
Divine Places is a non-profit organization that WILL SOON provide homeless men with emergency shelter, ongoing social services and assistance with the tools they need to achieve economic self-sufficiency. With the hope and guidance of them reentering the workforce and reaching their ultimate potential as responsible family members and productive members of their communities.
About This Cause
The vision of Divine Places, Inc. is to maintain a resource center to assist and provide homeless men with the resources and skills necessary – without fear of judgement - to get their lives on track to be able to develop into strong family members and community leaders. There is a belief that the life blood of a healthy family is one where there is a strong male in the leadership and protector role, and that while families may be productive even with the absence of a man, there are many that struggle without a man to help lead and guide them to productivity. Life goals are often thought of in terms of wants or desires for the future. While, no one has a want or desire to be unhoused, today many communities are inundated with men classified as just that. We, at Divine Places believe that there are many families who struggle because of the lack of strong male leadership due to male homelessness. These are the men who for various circumstances find themselves without permanent housing, and live for all intents and purposes on the streets, homeless shelters, or various other places they can find. With this in mind, our goal is to work with homeless men on an immediate or emergency basis to assist in housing needs, health care and any social services concerns they may have. In the long term our ultimate goal is to transform each individual from helpless and homeless to capable and self-sufficient. Our program services include transitional to permanent housing, individual and group counseling, life skills and self-esteem workshops, and job training and job search preparation. Our goal is to not only assist our participants to be able to care for themselves but to change the homeless mindset to one of leadership not only in their homes but their communities as well. Our motto at Divine Places, Inc. is to “Get men back to leading. Once the men are back on track the women will follow”. Our goal is to give each and every homeless man we encounter the tools necessary to sustain and live productive self-sufficient lives. All activities approved by the Board of Directors and the scheduled implementation of such activities (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) are to be carried out by future staff and/or agents authorized by the corporation for such purposes. The purpose of these activities is to promote positive and productive lifestyles through spiritual guidance and positive lifestyle choices within the family and community at large. The statements below are the developmental steps in the building of our organization. Our organization will build a strong network with other youth organizations and local, state and federal agencies. We will research and chart past and current data from various sources related to the ways to supplement educational support to at risk youth outside the classroom. Effectively target the population most in need of these services Assess what elements of the program already in existence that are working and implement these into our program. Gather information as a guide to making policy decisions that will benefit targeted groups.
