About This Cause

The NCIA Foundation is the fundraising and donor-relations entity within NCIA. All donations to the NCIA Foundation directly support NCIA programs. Since its founding in 1977, NCIA (National Center on Institutions and Alternatives) has been guided by a belief in second chances. NCIA programs support those confronted with obstacles such as justice involvement, intellectual disabilities, systemic economic and racial oppression, and financial instability. NCIA programs include: Vocational Training Centers (VTC) in Baltimore, Maryland and Charlotte, North Carolina, which provide vocational training, professional and life skills development, and employment counseling to returning citizens, veterans, and those emerging from homelessness and recovery. Youth in Transition non-public special education school in Baltimore, MD; Community Living residential homes, day program and employment services for adults with intellectual disabilities in Baltimore, MD; Behavioral Respite program for those disabled adults facing deep challenges in Baltimore, MD. NCIA is committed to equity, and compassionately promoting the independence of the people we serve.
