Mission Statement
Women’s Money Matters builds the financial wellness, confidence, and economic security of women and girls living on low-incomes through an impactful group-based program that combines financial health workshops, peer support, and personal, one-to-one coaching. The mission of Women’s Money Matters is to empower women to improve their financial health to create a more secure future for their families and communities. We envision a world in which all women are empowered with knowledge and support to create economic opportunity and build wealth for themselves, their families, and their communities in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and various other parts of New England.
About This Cause
Women’s Money Matters serves the most vulnerable and disadvantaged women in our community. Most are experiencing life challenges due to poverty, housing insecurity, recent immigration, or domestic violence, all are living on low incomes. Participants in our programs follow the 300% Federal Poverty or 60% Estimated State Median Income guidelines. With most of them enrolled in at least one public assistance program (SNAP, WIC, etc.). Our programs are for cis and trans women, as well as non-binary people who are comfortable in a space that centers on the experiences of women and girls. The core work of Women’s Money Matters are financial wellness programs for women and girls living on low incomes offered in different formats to two audiences: Financial Futures for Women 22+ and Life Launch for girls (8-14) and teens/young women (14-22). The purpose of this program is to increase the financial knowledge, skills, and self-confidence of women who are living on low incomes so that they may experience greater economic stability, increased educational opportunities, sustained employment, and better housing security. Our core programs consist of 12 weeks of financial education workshops, 12 hours of one-to-one coaching, and peer-group support over 3 months.
