About This Cause
The Andean Alliance for Sustainable Development (AASD) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the United States as well as Peru. Our mission is to “harness collective intelligence to support community-led development in the highlands of Peru.” Many of the projects we collaborate on with communities seek to address malnutrition and improve food sovereignty, as well as to minimize the effects of poverty. In addition, we actively engage local organizations to build capacity and foster collaboration for more responsible, informed development projects. The AASD partners with graduate institutions to maintain creativity in the field and to offer a hands-on immersive field experience. Our Principles: We believe that real and lasting change is community-driven. We believe in harnessing collective intelligence for sustainable solutions. We believe and invest in locally grown and owned sustainable solutions. We value people over projects, and impact over quantity.
