About This Cause
Gospel, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of chronic homelessness in Polk County, Florida, through permanent supportive housing and a holistic approach to care. Founded in 2011 as an outreach ministry, Gospel, Inc. has grown into a comprehensive housing initiative addressing the multifaceted needs of individuals experiencing homelessness. Our mission is not only to provide shelter but to foster healing, stability, and self-sufficiency for those who have often been overlooked by society. In 2021, we took a transformative step forward by acquiring a property now known as Gospel Village, a thriving community that currently houses 38 residents in 33 units. With a remarkable 95% retention rate, Gospel Village offers more than a roof over one’s head—it provides a foundation for rebuilding lives. In October 2024, we began construction on an additional 48 housing units to expand our capacity and deepen our impact in the community, ensuring more individuals have access to the safety and stability they deserve. We offer two innovative programs tailored to meet the unique needs of our residents: Permanent Supportive Housing for Residents with Income: This program provides affordable, stable housing for those ready to transition into long-term independence. Work-for-Rent Program: For individuals without income, this program offers the opportunity to contribute 10 hours of work weekly, participating in activities such as campus maintenance, gardening, and creative projects. Through this initiative, residents gain valuable skills, develop passions, and experience the dignity of contributing to their community. Holistic Care and Wellness Center Understanding that trauma, addiction, and mental health challenges are often root causes of chronic homelessness, Gospel, Inc. takes a holistic approach to care. Our Wellness Center provides trauma-informed services designed to address the physical, emotional, and psychological needs of our residents. From art therapy and gardening programs to life skills workshops and mental health support, our offerings promote healing from the inside out. We recognize that a safe and stable home is only the beginning; true recovery requires addressing the whole person. Community Connection and Healthy Living At Gospel Village, community is at the heart of everything we do. We host weekly community dinners, where residents and staff come together to share a meal, build relationships, and foster a sense of belonging. Additionally, our onsite community fridge and pantry ensure that residents have access to healthy food options, addressing the barriers of limited transportation and financial insecurity. We believe that health begins with nourishment—both physical and emotional—and we are committed to meeting these basic needs with dignity and care. Programs that Inspire Purpose In addition to housing and wellness, we provide opportunities for residents to engage in meaningful activities that enhance their well-being and help them rediscover purpose. Our art studio empowers residents to explore creativity, our gardening program encourages sustainable living and connection with nature, and our maintenance program offers hands-on training and skill-building. These programs not only enhance the Gospel Village campus but also give residents a renewed sense of self-worth and possibility.
