Mission Statement

All Star Code creates economic opportunity by developing a new generation of boys and young men of color with an entrepreneurial mindset who have the tools they need to succeed in a technological world.

About This Cause

Founded in 2013, All Star Code is a nonprofit organization that provides computer science education, leadership, and career development for our students, from high school to the tech workforce. Our mission is to create economic opportunity by developing a new generation of boys and young men of color with an entrepreneurial mindset and the tools they need to succeed in a technological world. All Star Code is one of very few organizations and programs engaging young men with leadership potential in the years immediately before they start their careers. Our program model extends across the scholar journey -- from high school to college, and career. We provide year-round programming to support their exposure to computer science & opportunities in tech, college prep, continuing education, and career access needs. We are building a sustainable talent pipeline for young men of color to enter, thrive, and lead in the tech workforce. Our ultimate goal is to close the wealth, income, and opportunity gaps. All Star Code teaches computational thinking and foundational Computer Science (coding), centering the experiences and identities of young men of color in our work (culture), striving for our students to have a consistent demonstration of hard and core skills needed to be successful in tech (competence), increasing our students’ self-assurance arising from an appreciation of one’s own coding/computer science abilities and identity (confidence), and fostering a Brotherhood of All Stars: a group of peers / mentors with similar identities, experiences, and an interest in tech. All Star Code is one of the only organizations specifically focused on technology training for young men of color. To date, All Star Code has 1,336 Students in our All Star Code Scholar Brotherhood; a robust network of rising tech leaders of color with a shared experience graduating from our Summer Intensive Program; 88% identifying as Black or Latino; with 200 of our All Star Code Scholars meaningfully employed or seeking opportunities in the tech workforce.
