Mission Statement
We have revised our Masonic Mission. We originated in Seattle about 1875, at that time helping Masons in Seattle and the many who travelled thru on their way to Alaska (aka Sojourners)... We continue to operate within the guidelines of our original mission, although now as a registered 501-c3, we are operating in this century with updated parameters. Our primary focus is assisting Masons in good standing who are going through financial issues-loss of job, or sudden hardship expenses. Our assistance is Short-Term in nature. Masons in good standing need to be sponsored by their Home Lodge, we believe that Charity begins at home. The MSB will then step in after consulting with the WM of SEC of the Lodge to verify the need and clarify what we can do. Please note-if your Great Grandfather was a Mason in Timbuctoo, please do not waste our time. The Puget Sound MSB is for Masons in Good Standing and their immediate family. All requests for Charity are investigated, though we do not discuss the particulars of any case outside of our group. And we continue to assist Sojourning Masons and their families... No matter where a Mason travels in the World--he has a Brother close by...
About This Cause
Operating with over 20 Trustees from member Lodges, and with an Elected Executive Board comprising 5 plus the Exec Secretary, we receive and determine assistance to Masons in the following categories--and then some: Financial assistance to Masons in good standing and their families Funeral Training Member Workshops Funeral and Memorial Services for Masons including Sojourning Masons Educational Grants to Masons who are going through career changes and need $$ help attending an accredited Vocational Program Our vetting process is initially thru the Masons' Home Lodge--we receive a request from the Master or Secretary of the Lodge for the need. The Executive Board makes a quick determination and funds are disbursed. At times, we will work with 2 other Masonic Charity groups--Washington Masonic Charities and the Washington Grand Lodge Charity Committee to assist Masons and their family with issues one group alone cannot undertake. This co-operation has worked well for over 10 years. Discretion is a mandate.
