Mission Statement
The Pacific Northwest Research Institute (PNRI) is an independent, nonprofit, biomedical research organization founded in 1956. PNRI explores the human body's innate ability to remain healthy in the face of genetic and environmental risk. We are discovering new ways to diagnose, treat, and prevent disease.
About This Cause
Pacific Northwest Research Institute (PNRI) is an independent, nonprofit, biomedical research institute, founded in 1956 by Dr. William Hutchinson to “correct man’s infirmities”. Today, PNRI continues to seek cures, treatments, and preventions for human disease using the latest and most promising technologies. PNRI believes that better understanding the interaction between the environment and genetics will lead to insights into the prevention of human diseases. This is why we are making significant investments in technologies to analyze large-scale, complex datasets including: high throughput computing, next generation genome sequencing, bioinformatics, and information theory methods. The expertise and leadership of PNRI’s scientists in the field of basic diabetes research, coupled with the urgent need for solutions to the global epidemic, keep diabetes at the forefront of research at PNRI. Our clinical resources and capabilities are at the center of our pursuit to turn scientific discoveries into health impact. With the expansion of our technology and science, it is clear that systems developed at PNRI apply to the study of many diseases.
