Mission Statement

We are a 501 (c)(3) non profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of youth living in the Central District and local communities of inner city Seattle

About This Cause

Our mission is accomplished by fostering and promoting the value of education, through sponsorship of academics, life skills, cultural arts, and athletic programs. These programs focus on the development and growth of individual character, responsibility, and group interaction for at risk youth. We have a strong focus on S.T.E.M. (including computer science), and early education. Recently we have added civic engagement to our curriculum as they are our leaders of the future, and we need to prepare them, and share the truth as history presented itself, and learn from it. We have a strong emphasis in helping our youth to understand that we live in a global society now. Our goal is to help them understand that they too can participate in the growth and development of their city, state, country, and the world. We have a heavy emphasis on education for youth, we are diversified, but we have a concentrated interest on helping youth of color overcome barriers therefore, our programs are culturally competent. We have mentors, tutors, and professionals who help our youth transition their dreams into reality. We are predominately a minority organization. We make learning fun, and relevant to everyday situations. We know our youth face often times insurmountable challenges just because they are children, and are subjected to their circumstances oftentimes they are powerless. We acknowledge that, but we do not accept it, and work hard on developing individual assessments and platforms that is task oriented with social interaction. Our mission is to help them achieve the next benchmark, to surpass what the expectation is, regardless if it is a public, private or alternative school. We also work with at risk youth, and provide a strong support system with resources to reduce the school to prison pipeline, and help them develop their interests into becoming independent, and not co-dependent. Society already has them isolated and "marked" , we want them to be productive members of society. We have social workers and behavior modification professionals to help them overcome and oftentimes unwind the "old" information, and replace it with "new" information that will provide sustainable results which includes financial independence. What we have learned is that most African American and Hispanic youth do not even see themselves living past 25-30 years of age. That narrative needs to be erased and replaced with the fact they are living, and they have the opportunity to turn things around right now. To teach them about the fact that there is a difference between instant gratification and quick results that are not sustainable, versus methodical strategic planning, leads to longer lasting and sustainable results. We have been around for 50 years, have a successful track record. We have new board members and a new President.
