Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide educational, cultural and social services that reconnect Indigenous people in the Puget Sound region to their heritage by strengthening their sense of belonging and significance as Native people.
About This Cause
VISION To be a social service provider, community center, and cultural home for urban Indians. Over 70% of American Indians and Alaska Natives now live in urban areas in King County, typically far from the safety net available to Natives living on tribal lands. United Indians and our home at Daybreak Star have evolved to create a home and a safety net for this dislocated population, serving urban AI/AN in every stage of life. Programs: Labateyah Youth Home: Transitional shelter for homeless youth Elder Services: Nutritious meals, transportation, and cultural activities for Native Elders Family Services: Tribal home visiting for families with Native children ages 0-5, parenting classes, foster care licensing and support, Our Strong Fathers Program, Daybreak Star Doulas, and Native Veterans Program Daybreak Star Preschool: a culturally and linguistically appropriate preschool for children ages 3-5 Native Workforce Services: education and employment counseling, placement, and support Cultural services: Native art exhibits, annual Seafair Indian Days Pow Wow at our Pow Wow Grounds, annual commemoration of Indigenous Peoples' Day in October, Native Artist Cohort.
