Mission Statement
Our mission is to support all women and their families who enter our agency looking for help, hope, and support. Specifically, we will provide, at no charge, pregnancy tests and ultrasounds to women; will provide education on pregnancy and adoption; and, will assist with material items (including diapers, baby food, clothing, blankets, car seats, and other goods) and the information needed to properly care for their infant, toddler, and preschooler.
About This Cause
Pregnancy Aid of Snohomish County is a non-sectarian social service agency established in 1971 to provide immediate confidential help to any person, married or unmarried. Personal, practical, and emotional support is given on a one-to-one basis without judgment or strings attached, and at no charge. Employees and Volunteers share their time and experience, providing positive role models to strengthen family values within our community. We are simply a place to come seek assistance if a person has nowhere else to go. We are committed to helping families by providing the material items they need to maintain a life style that is conducive to healthy living. The clients who utilize Pregnancy Aid of Snohomish County are of a wide variety of ages, races, and ethnicities. We serve mothers and fathers (and grandparents) from the age of 14 up. While most of our clients fall into the lowest economic income category (below $25K) we also serve many lower/middle income clients ($25-50K). However, it should be noted that we track income only as an indicator, and not to turn anyone away who asks for help. We provide a variety of services and material goods, at no cost to the client, including: prenatal vitamins, maternity clothing, toiletries, and counseling. We serve children from newborn through elementary school who belong to these mothers (and fathers) for whom we provide clothing, toys, toiletries, birthday presents, limited school supplies, formula, baby food, diapers, baby boxes, and car seats. Other items are given out when available including walkers, strollers, baby baths, pack-n-plays and cribs. We currently see over 4,000 families per year with 3 part-time paid staff members, dozens of volunteers, 10 board members and others who help with office work, fundraising, processing clothing and material goods, making blankets and quilts, marketing, graphic design and more. Pregnancy Aid of Snohomish County receives extensive donations of clothing and household items from families, organizations, and youth groups throughout the county. We have a few groups who do diaper drives for us which help provide diapers. We have a couple of churches that hold baby showers for layette items and cash donations. We help to fund our car seats with an “ask” at our annual auction and with local grants. We are partnering with EMT to provide safety awareness for our car seat recipients. We are affiliated with Pregnancy AID WIC and we work together on providing comprehensive nutritious solutions for low income families. We also work with St. Vincent DePaul in Everett to help cover other needs of our clients.
