Mission Statement

ACRS promotes social justice and the well-being and empowerment of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and other underserved communities – including immigrants, refugees, and American-born – by developing, providing and advocating for innovative, effective and efficient community-based multilingual and multicultural services.

About This Cause

Asian Counseling and Referral Service (ACRS) is a nationally recognized, social justice focused nonprofit and is the largest multi-service agency offering a broad array of health and human services to Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders and other underserved communities -- whether immigrant, refugee or American born -- in the Pacific Northwest. ACRS was founded in 1973 out of a grassroots effort. At that time, Asian Americans were at risk of misdiagnosis and receiving inappropriate care from service providers unfamiliar with their cultures and languages. Today, we offerna continuum of services through 14 major programs: • Aging and Adult Services • Chemical Dependency Treatment • Children, Youth and Families • Civic Engagement • Citizenship Services • Comprehensive Mental Health Services • Congregate Meals and Emergency Feeding • Consultation and Education • Domestic Violence Batterers Treatment • Employment and Training Services • Food Bank • Information and Referral Services • Legal Clinic • Problem Gambling Treatment Our largely bilingual and bi-cultural staff of nearly 270 collectively speak more than 40 languages and dialects, and come from the same cultures as our clients. We assist more than 30,000 people annually.
