Mission Statement
Cornish College of the Arts is an exhilarating place to be. Cornish offers a distinctive blend of visual and performing arts grounded in a core curriculum of humanities and sciences. Cornish is a four-year college offering a Bachelor of Music degree and Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in art, dance, design, music, performance production and theater. We encourage students to exchange ideas, experiment and find their unique artistic voices and share them with us in ways both innovative and traditional. We are a small college with 800 students in degree programs and another 150 in preparatory classes. We are accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.
About This Cause
Cornish College of the Arts embodies the highest ideals in innovation and creativity. Cornish educates emerging artists to be agents of change and are inspired to have meaningful impact in the world through art. A pioneer in arts education, Cornish College of the Arts sprang from the remarkable vision of Nellie Cornish, a woman determined to cultivate the arts in Seattle when it was scarcely more than a frontier town. Her philosophy of educating the artist through exposure to all the arts was progressive at the time, and continues to be innovative today.
