About This Cause
In 1975, Brigitte Bertschi opened the doors to Bertschi School with the vision of a supportive and inclusive environment where children truly delight in the challenges and rewards of learning. For nearly four decades, Bertschi has offered an education that successfully intertwines the intellectual, emotional, and social development of a child. The school achieves this balance by weaving discovery and challenge, individual attention and community experience, artistic expression and scientific inquiry, enthusiastic play and quiet reflection. As a result, Bertschi students are joyful learners supported by a nurturing community. Today, Bertschi enrolls about 240 students in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, on a campus that now spans the length of an entire city block. With the addition of the Science Wing, the school boasts both a LEED Gold certified Bertschi Center and a Living Building, which both offer a unique opportunity for students to learn about sustainability while also living it.
