About This Cause
Each year over 1200 seniors and older adults (aged 50+) enjoy engaged and enriched lives with support from the programs and services provided by the Mt. Si Senior Center. Donations to Mt. Si Senior Center support Snoqualmie Valley Seniors and the Center's mission to ensure our older adults age well and that seniors continue to live independently our community. Our programs and services include: - Senior Nutrition program: seniors enjoy time with friends and acquaintances over a delicious lunch that is nutritionally balanced and meets a senior’s dietetic needs. For many seniors, their noon meal at the senior center is the one hot, balanced meal they will eat that day. - Health Promotion and Wellness programs: Information on and services supporting health and wellness are of great interest to seniors. By participating in fitness and exercise programs, seniors reduce the likelihood of injury, increase their longevity, and are able to maintain independent living. A range of health appointments and access to medical equipment at greatly reduced costs allows seniors to remain financially independent while taking care of their health. - Social, Recreational, and Personal Enrichment and Educational opportunities: Opportunities for social interaction can successfully counter the social isolation and loneliness that can threaten the mental and physical health of seniors. - Information and Assistance / Senior Advocacy program: Senior advocacy services promote the health, dignity, rights and quality of life of seniors in the Snoqualmie Valley. Through our advocacy programs, seniors and their families identify and engage with services they need. - Transportation: Many rural residents have limited public or private transportation options. Alternative services can be used to provide an option for those who may need to be connected to transit centers. Snoqualmie Valley Transportation (SVT) performs both demand response and fixed-route service to the people of the Snoqualmie Valley. - Volunteer Opportunities: A feeling of commitment, obligation and purpose helps to promote good physical and mental health. Mt. Si Senior Center relies on nearly 90 volunteers each year to deliver its programs. - Housing: The Center owns 2 senior-only low-income apartment buildings, Sno-Ridge Apartments and Cascade Park Apartments. These properties provide homes to 70 seniors and are located just 1-2 blocks from the Center. Please join us in our work to help older adults in our community age well.
