Mission Statement
The Eatonville Family Agency’s mission is to create opportunities for economically disadvantaged families and senior citizens and to reduce the impact of poverty through a variety of social services and community programs. Eatonville Family Agency provides emergency basic needs such as food, clothing, utility assistance, essential care items, DSHS help, and more to low-income and homeless individuals, families, and senior citizens in rural Southeast Pierce County.
About This Cause
The Eatonville Family Agency’s Food and Resources Program is our best effort to provide assistance and social services to those in our community who are most in need to reduce the impact of poverty. From our beginning,, our core mission has always been to fight hunger and food scarcity in our area. We operate an efficient and well organized food bank, provide weekend food for children in grades K – 12 through our backpack food program, we make sure that our clients have sufficient and nutritious food during the holidays, and we do everything we can to make sure our clients enroll and receive their Basic Food benefits through DSHS. While making sure those who are hungry have the food they need is a crucial element of our operation, it is not the only service we provide. We address poverty and its ancillary effects in other ways, too, including operating a clothing bank via Center Street Junction with a focus on warm coats and essentials, and distributing household essentials like blankets, diapers, baby formula, and personal care items. With no shelters in our rural area, we assist our homeless clients by providing tents, tarps, sleeping bags, flashlights, and we have a shower in our facility for their use, and provide resources for them. We have a variety of programs in place for our seniors including 3 x weekly senior meal site, health screenings, Medicare assistance, social activities, and transportation services. Additionally, there are myriad other services and referrals we provide that include everything from providing school supplies to providing holiday gift giving programs. Our goal is to offer services and assistance to help with a client’s struggles, reduce the stress of poverty in their life, and empower them to make positive and meaningful steps toward more self sufficiency.
