Create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.
About This Cause
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Washington is committed to igniting the potential of youth in our community. We pair a volunteer mentor one-to-one with a child and we call this a “match”. Once matched, mentors, or “Bigs,” develop friendships with their youth, “Littles.” We have many programs in which one-to-one mentoring can make a positive impact! We serve families and mentors in Thurston, Mason, Lewis, Grays Harbor and Pacific counties in Washington state What do we achieve? Big Brothers Big Sisters helps children achieve success in school, helps them avoid risky behaviors such as getting into fights and trying drugs and alcohol, and helps them improve their self-confidence. We hold ourselves accountable to our supporters by regularly measuring our impact. What do we do? In our unique brand of one-to-one mentoring a child is carefully matched with a caring adult mentor in a friendship supported by professional Big Brothers Big Sisters staff. These mentoring relationships ignite the power and promise of youth. Whom do we serve? Big Brothers Big Sisters seeks to change the lives of children facing adversity between 6 and 18 years of age. Our network of volunteers, donors and supporters comes from all walks of life, backgrounds and ethnicities.
