Mission Statement
The National Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) / Guardian ad Litem (GAL) Association for Children, together with its state and local members, supports and promotes court-appointed volunteer advocacy so that every abused or neglected child can be safe, find a permanent home, and have the opportunity to thrive.
About This Cause
Every day in this country, hundreds of children become victims of abuse or neglect, and several of them will die. Every day. The National Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) / Guardian ad Litem (GAL) Association for Children is a network of 939 community-based programs that recruit, train, and support citizen-volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused or neglected children in courtrooms and communities. Volunteer advocates—empowered directly by the courts—offer judges the critical information they need to ensure that each child’s rights and needs are being attended to while in foster care. Volunteers stay with children until they are placed in loving permanent homes. For many abused children, a CASA/GAL volunteer is the only constant adult presence in their lives.
