Mission Statement
For over 35 years, Washington CAN Education and Research Fund has been supporting organizations working on a wide variety of racial, social and economic justice issues. In 2018, Washington CAN ERF continued our focus on housing affordability and strengthening tenant protections, and criminal justice reform.
About This Cause
With over 40,000 members, Washington CAN! is the state’s largest grassroots community organization. Together we work to achieve racial, social, and economic justice in Washington state and our nation. We believe that we can only achieve our goals when people become involved and take action for justice. As one of the largest consumer advocacy groups in the state, we work within our communities on a range of issues with the aim of bringing about greater economic equality and social justice for everyone. Our Board represents a wide coalition of groups, including labor, senior, faith, and community organizations, working with our field and telephone canvasses to do education, fundraising and activation with our grassroots members and activists across Washington, organizing people and empowering them to take action. Our strength as an organization depends on our members and their involvement. The mission of Washington CAN! is to achieve economic, social and racial equality in order to establish a democratic society characterized by justice and fairness, with respect for diversity, and a decent quality of life for all those who reside in Washington State. We are creating and maintaining a large, strong and diverse statewide community presences of grassroots leaders, community members, friend and allies to fight for these goals.
