Mission Statement

HAW’s mission is: (1) to preserve and promote the culture, (2) to advocate for the Hmong people, and (3) to promote education in the community.

About This Cause

Established in 1983, the Hmong Association of Washington (HAW) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that exists to serve the Hmong community in the Puget Sound region (King, Pierce, Snohomish). The Hmong people are an underrepresented minority group from Laos. Throughout the year, HAW holds community events that are open to the public in which they provide cultural and educational activities. HAW also serves the Hmong youth, Hmong elders, young Hmong professional, Hmong women/girls and the Hmong flower farmers. In 2020-2021, HAW also provides cash/food/rental assistance to Hmong families affected by the pandemic. We supported our Hmong flower and vegetable farmers with neighborhood sales and to form a cooperative so they can support each other during hard times and to help their micro farming business be successful.
