DESC works to end the homelessness of our community's most vulnerable people, particularly those living with serious mental or addictive illnesses. Through an integrated array of comprehensive services, treatment, and supportive housing we give people the opportunity to reclaim their lives and reach their highest potential. Our vision is a community where no person is abandoned, ignored, or experiencing homelessness.

About This Cause

DESC was founded in 1979 and works to end homelessness for our most vulnerable community members, those with the complex needs of homelessness, substance use disorders, and serious mental illness, achieve their highest potential for health and well-being by providing an array of integrated housing, health, and other critical life-changing and life-saving services. As an organization, DESC is a recognized national leader in implementing innovative, cost-effective strategies that end homelessness. DESC operates over 17 permanent supportive housing locations in the Seattle, Washington area providing homes to over 1,800 members of our community formerly experiencing chronic homelessness. DESC also provides clinical and mental healthcare services, employment services, and other coordinated care to over 7,000 people each year who have experienced or are experiencing homelessness. Our vision is a community where no person is abandoned, ignored, or experiencing homelessness.
