About This Cause

The Southwest Seattle Historical Society was founded in 1984 and provides programs in education, preservation and advocacy for the Duwamish peninsula of Seattle, generally described as West Seattle and White Center. Our headquarters is the "Birthplace of Seattle" Log House Museum, which we acquired in the mid-1990s and opened in 1997, just one block from Alki Beach, the "Birthplace of Seattle." We provide exhibits, tours and interactive public presentations for all ages, especially children. For 20 years, our board has operated under a policy that "the needs and interests of young people" are our "highest priority." Our programs engage thousands of people each year. Information, photos and video of can be accessed easily via our website, www.loghousemuseum.org.
