Mission Statement
The Humane Society of Mason County is a non-profit 501c(3) organization providing assistance and care to displaced or abused animals including control of pet and feral population. Currently the organization operates a foster based rescue for animals in need of urgent placement housing over 1000 animals annually and operates a low cost community clinic spaying and neutering over 4000 animals annually. Additionally, the organization is working to provide an animal shelter for unwanted companion animals.
About This Cause
The Humane Society of Mason County (HSMC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Belfair, Washington, providing compassionate care and lifesaving services for animals in need. With a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, HSMC operates without ongoing government funding, relying on community donations, fundraising efforts, and service fees to sustain its mission. HSMC focuses on fostering and community-based sheltering, working tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome vulnerable animals. The organization offers accessible veterinary care, including low-cost spay and neuter programs, to help control pet and feral populations in Mason County. Currently, HSMC operates from a leased space and utilizes a network of foster homes, as it does not yet have a permanent shelter facility. However, plans are underway to build a centrally located shelter on a 5-acre property acquired in 2015, which will enable the organization to serve more county residents and provide a central hub for its operations. Through adoption services, community education, and volunteer opportunities, HSMC strives to make Mason County a safer, more humane place for all animals.
