Mission Statement
We improve the health and quality of life for our clients, through the use of evidence-based, high quality, client-centered harm reduction and case management approaches for stigmatized patient populations, including people living with HIV/AIDS and substance use disorder.
About This Cause
Blue Mountain Heart to Heart was founded in 1985 by 16 people who wanted to respond better to the AIDS crisis. In the early years of the epidemic, our staff and volunteers helped more than 250 people live with dignity, until newer medications transformed AIDS from a death sentence to a chronic, manageable disease. In 1991 we became a 501(c)3 nonprofit, and in 2013 we amended our mission to include people struggling with substance use. Now a staff of 30, Blue Mountain Heart to Heart helps stigmatized patient populations in a 6,000 square mile area in Southeast Washington State. Our programs include case management for people living with HIV, HIV and STI prevention, hepatitis C prevention and treatment, diversion programs for people caught up in the criminal justice systems, substance use treatment, harm reduction programs, mobile clinic services,and mental health support. Our strategy is to meet the changing needs present in our rural and exurban communities. We are grateful for and proud of our work and hope you will consider us for a donation this year. Thank you.
