Mission Statement

We envision a world where safe housing is available to all and people are inspired to work collectively to create self-sustaining communities. Red Feather Development Group partners with the Hopi Tribe and the Navajo Nation to develop and implement sustainable solutions to the housing needs within their communities.

About This Cause

Red Feather Development Group (“Red Feather”) was founded in 1995 to address the fact that of 2.5 million tribal members living on American Indian reservations, more than 60% are either homeless or live in overcrowded, substandard conditions. Red Feather believes that safe, healthy homes are the foundation for healthy families and communities. Our mission is to partner with American Indian nations to develop and implement sustainable solutions to the housing needs within their communities. We achieve this by conducting community outreach to identify needs and assess available resources, deliver programs that provide healthy home safety and energy improvements, and empower homeowners and communities with tools and education that allow them to maintain their homes and places of business, and sustain the positive impact of the improvements provided through our programs. Currently, our primary areas of service are Hopi and Navajo reservation communities located in Arizona, New Mexico and the Four Corners area of the southwest United States.
