Mission Statement

The KSER Foundation serves the greater North Puget Sound Region's independent public radio needs. We provide local, national, and international news, information, and music. We currently reach approximately 1.3 million potential listeners. As an independent public radio provider we have the ability to air news that is impactful and important to regional residents. We currently provide 140 free public service announcements per week in support of regional non-profit organizations, and provide a venue for new regional and national musical artists.

About This Cause

KSER is the only full-power public radio station licensed in Snohomish and Island Counties. We provide a uniquely local perspective on national, international, and regional issues. Our goal is to be the regional voice for news and culture in the North Puget Sound Region.. KSER has the courage to sound different, to be different, to reflect the diverse tastes and views of listeners in our region. Our public radio service is original, inclusive and community-minded. We serve our entire community with a full spectrum of music, culture, news and public affairs. 360 Degrees of Music We’re passionate about quality music for its own sake. Our sound is created by more than 100 professionally managed citizen-volunteers, music lovers who craft a high-variety programming mix unduplicated anywhere on the dial—from world music, folk, and bluegrass, to reggae, rock and blues. The result is a new sound - free of the conformity that has become the rule elsewhere on the dial. In Your Community 90.7 KSER is a frequent partner in our community. Whether it’s Everett Summer Concerts in the Parks or the Snohomish County League of Women Voters’ election forums; KSER is there. As an independent public radio station, our goal is to enhance the quality of life in our community by providing an educational, non-commercial public radio service devoted to arts, ideas, and civic engagement. Expanding Our Community Connection On November 12th, 2013 the KSER Foundation launched a second station, 89.9 KXIR-FM, that transmits from Freeland on Whidbey Island. The KSER FOundation took this step to ensure that an independent community voice remains strong in the region. The KSER Foundation is currently in a campaign to pay the construction costs of the new transmitter and tower, and is in the beginning stages of that campaign. We expect to split the current simulcast for these two stations in late 2014. With community support we hope to have the ability to support the needs of even more community members, and partner organizations.
